The names of the cities, mountains, rivers and seas on that map tell you a great deal about your behavioural preferences.
That makes it more than a result you read and put away. It is something you return to—to explore on your own, share with colleagues and start conversations about how you work together.

Every name on your map describes behaviour. Not with a letter or a colour, but with words you understand immediately and that leave room for your own meaning. This shows where you feel at home, where your strengths lie and where you may face challenges.

From questionnaire to your map
Three steps take you from a set of questions to your own place on the map. What happens after that is where the real work starts.
The questionnaire
Twenty-four blocks with four statements each, linked to the four Areas. For every block, you indicate which statement fits you most and which fits you least. It takes about fifteen minutes to complete.

Your answers show which of the sixteen Types matches your behavioural preference You receive the corresponding map together with the profile.

From your own place, you explore the rest of the World of Difference. Which behaviours would you like to show more often? Where are your colleagues on the map? And which Area do you rarely visit on your own?
How is the PersonalMap created?
The PersonalMap is based on a short questionnaire with 24 blocks, each containing four statements linked to the four Areas.
For every block, you indicate which statement fits you most and which fits you least. This produces a pattern of behavioural preferences. Your answers are then compared with an international reference group of more than 10,000 respondents and used to determine your personal position on the map.
The underlying measurement is solid. We test the reliability of the questionnaire using Cronbach’s alpha, a widely used statistical measure of how consistently different parts of a questionnaire measure the same underlying behaviour. Our four behavioural scales score between 0.80 and 0.90, which is generally regarded as good to very good reliability.

Reliability is monitored with Cronbach's Alpha, a measure of internal consistency. The scores on the four behavioural scales lie between 0.80 and 0.90, which counts as good reliability. The algorithm is updated annually and compares answers with a reference group of more than 10,000 respondents.
Can I use it without a Guide?
PersonalMaps are issued by certified Guides through their own Dashboard. That is deliberate: the map comes into its own in a conversation, with the right guidance from a MapsTell Guide.
