Talking about yourself is easier when you are both looking at the same landscape
In personal development, MapsTell gives people words for their own behaviour. The PersonalMap shows how someone prefers to communicate and collaborate, how their behaviour may come across to others and where challenges may arise. Because the conversation starts with the map rather than the person, it flows more easily.
That works particularly well for people who are not used to talking about themselves. You point to a place, read a few words and, before you know it, you are explaining why those words fit you or why you prefer to stay well away from them.

From questionnaire to a conversation that matters
Your PersonalMap is the starting point, not the outcome. This is how you move from one to the other.
You complete the questionnaire
Twenty-four blocks, about fifteen minutes. In each block, you indicate what fits you most and what fits you least.
You receive your place in The World of Difference
With your PersonalMap in hand, you look at your own behavioural preferences: where your strengths lie, where challenges may arise and how others sometimes experience your behaviour. The last one is often where the best conversations begin.
You explore the journey you want to take
Which behaviour would you like to show more often? Which Areas do you prefer to avoid, and which Area sometimes creates friction? A Guide facilitates that conversation.
Three reasons the map opens up the conversation
Put a map on the table and people start pointing, laughing and asking questions. That happens for a reason, and it comes down to three choices we made.

The kinds of conversations the map comes up in
The map is used one-to-one more often than you might expect. These three examples give you an idea of what that looks like.

Discover the power of the map for yourself
A complete exercise for a one-to-one conversation, including the map itself. You invite your conversation partner to see the map as a landscape and explore which places they visit often, which deserve more time and which deserve less. No certification is needed to use it.
Frequently asked questions about the PersonalMap
Below you will find the questions we hear most often, with clear answers.
Does this work in a one to one conversation?
Yes. The PersonalMap works just as well in a one hour coaching conversation as in a team session. The same goes for working with the Floormap of The World of Difference.
What if someone does not recognise themselves in their profile?
That is not a problem. Of the 100+ words in the PersonalMap there will always be a few you recognise less. Those often make for the best conversations: what do you not recognise, and how does it work for you instead? Which places on the map would you like to visit more often?
Is this suitable for people who do not like talking about themselves?
That is one of its strengths. You talk about places, words and routes on a map, and that gets the conversation going by itself.
Can I do this myself, without guidance?
PersonalMaps are issued by certified Guides. That is deliberate: the right context around the product matters if you want to get the most out of it.
Is this a personality test?
No. First of all it is not a test you can score right or wrong on, and it is about behavioural preferences rather than a complete personality profile. The PersonalMap is meant as a well founded starting point for a conversation.
Want to work with the map yourself?
MapsTell works with Guides in 20 countries, and Heller still speaks with them personally. However you choose to contact us, you can always reach the people at the heart of MapsTell. You can start with a 30-minute Discovery Call. We would much rather hear what you are working on than tell you what we sell. And if we feel that MapsTell is not right for your situation, we will say so.
