We map behaviour and get people connected

MapsTell literally maps behaviour and gives people a shared language to talk about it. The map makes differences visible, invites you to step into someone else's world and gets people moving.

our vision

Insight starts on paper. Change starts in conversation.

A completed questionnaire and personal profile tell you something about yourself. But they do not tell you what you will actually do differently on Monday morning. That insight emerges through conversation – with your colleague, your team or your coach. MapsTell provides the language, imagery and space for an open conversation in which people can truly understand one another.

Visible
Thousands of words and metaphors give behaviour a language everyone understands straight away.
Safe
You talk about places on the map without making it too personal. That takes the sharp edges off the conversation.
Nuanced
One person, countless behaviours. The map gives you room to step beyond the boundaries of boxes.

OUR MODEL

One map. Four Areas. Sixteen Types. Room for everyone.

The World of Difference is a map of human behaviour. Four Areas, sixteen Types and thousands of cities, mountains, rivers and seas – each revealing something about how people behave and how they differ. After completing a short questionnaire, you receive your PersonalMap: your place in The World of Difference, offering insight into your own behaviour. That is your starting point. From there, you set off on a journey of discovery – towards yourself and towards others.

WHAT THE WORLD OF DIFFERENCE DOES

Nine things people notice the moment they step onto the map

Ask a Guide what makes a MapsTell session different, and you tend to hear the same words again and again.

Practical

Start straight away with behaviour from everyday situations. What do you notice? What do you keep running into? And what could you do differently? The map helps you translate insights directly into real situations.

Interactive

The map invites you to move, choose, ask questions and talk to one another. You show others your world and step into theirs. That is how a real conversation about behaviour and mutual differences begins.

Visual

Behaviour is given a literal place on the map. Images, language and thousands of recognisable words come together in one visual world. This makes behaviour easier to understand, visible, open to discussion and easy to share with others.

Dynamic

A PersonalMap is a starting point, not a final destination. Behaviour changes with the situation, the environment and the people around you. The map makes preferences recognisable while leaving plenty of room to explore different behaviour.

Experiential

You do not just read about behaviour – you step into it. You enter your own world, visit someone else’s and discover where you can meet. That way, insight becomes something you genuinely experience and remember.

Accessible

Clear language, recognisable examples and an inviting format encourage everyone to take part. MapsTell is designed for a broad audience, from young people aged 12 and over to experienced professionals. No complicated jargon.

Nuanced

A person is more than a colour, type or box. That is why the map contains thousands of words and descriptions, making room for differences and nuances. You can recognise behaviour without reducing anyone to a single stereotype.

Fun

Serious topics do not have to feel heavy. The map brings lightness, curiosity and fun to conversations about behaviour. That safe and playful setting helps people open up, speak more freely and move forward together.

Safety

The map brings a layer of safety to the conversation. You are not talking about who someone is, but about the behaviour you see and how it affects you. Without making it personal, you step onto the map. That makes even difficult topics easier to discuss.
the floormap

Something happens the moment people step onto the map

On the floormap, behaviour becomes literally visible. People take up a position, step into someone else’s Area and experience what differences mean in practice. The words on the map give them language for what is happening. The result is movement – and a conversation that is harder to start with a profile alone.

THE DIFFERENCE

From insight on paper to real conversations.

A personal profile gives you insight. MapsTell makes that insight visible, shareable and something you can work on together.

Without the map

Insight stays on paper
You recognise yourself in a profile, but the insight still needs to be translated into practice.
A profile quickly becomes a box
A type helps you recognise behaviour, but it can also start to feel fixed: that's just the way I am.
The conversation gets stuck in stereotypes
Colours and stereotypes can be a useful starting point, but they reveal little about how someone actually behaves.

With MapsTell

Insight gets moving
You step onto the map, explore different behaviour and translate your insights into real-life situations.
Not in a box, but on the map
The map makes behaviour recognisable without pinning people down. With your PersonalMap as your starting point, the world is at your feet.
From colour codes to human language
Thousands of recognisable words make room for nuance. So instead of talking in broad labels, you talk about the behaviour you actually see in one another.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below, you will find the questions we hear most often, listed with clear answers.

What exactly is MapsTell?

MapsTell maps behaviour onto a map: The World of Difference. Participants complete a short questionnaire and receive their PersonalMap, a personal profile. A certified Guide uses that map, and often the Floormap of The World of Difference as well, to lead the conversation about behaviour and collaboration.

What makes MapsTell different from a personality test?

With a test, the outcome is the end point, a piece of interpretation. With MapsTell, the profile is the starting point. Not an absolute truth, but a highly efficient way to talk about serious things in an accessible way: the conversation between people, led by a Guide, in which insight is translated into behaviour at work.

What is a PersonalMap?

Your personal map in The World of Difference. There are sixteen, one for every Type. Based on the questionnaire you receive yours, together with a 25 page report. The names of cities, mountains, rivers and seas describe your behavioural preference.

What does it cost?

That depends on your licence choice and the number of PersonalMaps you expect to issue. You request a personal quotation and we draw it up based on your situation.

What does the certification look like?

It is delivered entirely online. You start with a self-paced e-learning that covers The World of Difference, PersonalMapping, the map metaphor and the teaching principles behind the method. Alongside that there are live virtual sessions in which you practise with real cases, work with PersonalMapping and facilitate with the Floormap. You keep access to the GuideJourney afterwards.
